FRP/GRP DUCTING

FRP/GRP ducting is engineered for safe and efficient transport of corrosive gases, fumes and vapors in industrial ventilation and environmental control systems. Unlike metallic ducting, which deteriorates in acidic, alkaline or moisture-rich conditions, FRP/GRP ducting provides long-term stability, excellent corrosion resistance and reliable airflow performance.

SREX Composites manufactures a full range of FRP/GRP ducting systems used in fume extraction, exhaust ventilation, scrubber interconnections and air-pollution-control applications. Our systems ensure consistent performance in industries that demand dependable non-metallic ducting for continuous operation.

Industrial Applicability

FRP/GRP ducting is widely used in:

  • Chemical and petrochemical plant ventilation
  • Acid and alkali fume extraction
  • Scrubber inlet/outlet duct networks
  • Battery and metal finishing exhaust systems
  • Chlorination, bromination and halogen fume zones
  • ETP and wastewater-treatment vent systems
  • Pharmaceutical & API manufacturing ventilation
  • Semiconductor corrosive gas extraction
  • Mining / metallurgical process exhaust channels

These ducts ensure safe handling of corrosive gases where metal systems cannot withstand long-term exposure.

Why FRP/GRP for Ducting

  • Excellent resistance to chemical vapors and corrosive fumes
  • Stable operation in high-humidity or condensation-rich atmospheres
  • Lightweight, reducing load on supports and structures
  • Smooth internal bore for efficient airflow
  • No rusting, pitting or internal scaling
  • Low maintenance and long lifecycle
  • Compatible with scrubbers, chimneys, blowers and filtration systems

Applications Within Environmental & Process Systems

  • Wet scrubber interconnecting ducts
  • Industrial exhaust manifolds
  • VOC and hazardous fume removal systems
  • Mist eliminator exhaust sections
  • Process gas collection and transfer
  • Emission-control and neutralization units
  • Industrial air-handling and extraction systems

THERMOPLASTIC-LINED FRP/GRP DUCTING

For extreme fume and gas environments where elevated chemical resistance is required, SREX Composites manufactures thermoplastic-lined FRP/GRP ducting. These systems combine:

  1. A corrosion-resistant thermoplastic liner, and
  2. A reinforced FRP/GRP structural shell

This dual-layer construction provides exceptional resistance to aggressive vapors, halogen gases, mixed acids, solvent fumes and high-temperature exhaust streams.

Seamless vs. Non-Seamless Liners

To accurately represent the engineering capability:

  • Seamless thermoplastic liners are available up to 300 mm diameter
These are produced as joint-free liners offering the highest level of internal corrosion resistance and smooth airflow characteristics.
  • For diameters above 300 mm, the thermoplastic liner cannot be seamless
Larger liners are fabricated using welding, thermoforming or segmental forming techniques and bonded to the FRP/GRP shell.
These non-seamless liners still provide excellent chemical resistance and allow manufacture of large-diameter ducting widely used in industrial ventilation systems.

Available Thermoplastic Lining Options

(All corrected to FRP/GRP terminology)

  • HDPE-lined FRP/GRP ducting
  • PP-lined FRP/GRP ducting / PPH-lined FRP/GRP ducting
  • UPVC-lined FRP/GRP ducting / CPVC-lined FRP/GRP ducting
  • PVDF-lined FRP/GRP ducting
  • ECTFE-lined FRP/GRP ducting
  • FEP-lined FRP/GRP ducting
  • PFA-lined FRP/GRP ducting

These liners enable safe handling of:

  • High-acid vapors (HCl, H₂SO₄, HNO₃)
  • Halogen fumes (chlorine, bromine, fluorinated gases)
  • High-temperature corrosive exhaust
  • Cleanroom/semiconductor corrosive gases
  • Strong oxidizing or permeation-prone vapors

Applications of Thermoplastic-Lined FRP/GRP Ducting

  • High-acid fume extraction
  • Tank ventilation and reactor off-gas ducts
  • Caustic scrubber exhaust lines
  • Chlorine, bromine and halogen ventilation systems
  • High-temperature condenser venting
  • Pure and semi-pure gas handling in pharma and semiconductor plants
  • VOC, chemical and hazardous fume removal

Advantages of Thermoplastic-Lined FRP/GRP Ducting

  • Superior corrosion and permeation resistance
  • Non-contaminating inner surface
  • Long service life even in extreme fume conditions
  • Smooth internal airflow profile
  • Configurable for large diameters and complex routing
  • Compatible with all FRP/GRP duct supports and accessories
